A sad Holloween...
Seems that the festive days of Holloween are slowing down. Went on the yearly journey around the area for what seemed to be a light year. I guess it can't be as good as it was 30, or 40 years ago when you didn't have the weirdness we deal with now. The biggest fear we had back in the late 60's was razor blades in apples and that thing we were warned about "drugged laced candy". The last few times I went out begging my dear Italian mom would spread all by boody on the living room floor and inspected all the goodies. Any thing that didn't look right went in the garbage can. Now 4 decades later it is my turn to look over the goods. Nothing found in the small heap of candy this year, Maybe next year we will go over to the church and try the trick or trunk....probably will get more goodies... Want happened to this country? Our kids will never have the fun we had. I feel for them...We need to get this country back on track...I don't think it is too late. Trick or Trunk?

long weekend at scout base
It was a slow start for the boys in cub scout troop 265. The hardest part was getting the lads to help the dads set up camp. We were crowded in an old cotton field that has been converted into a park of some sort deep in the delta of northern Mississippi. The news said there was 15,000 in attendance. Not too far were the lights of Tunica a low budget copy of Las Vegas. All the big casinos are down there. Back to the festivities at hand, after setting up the tents and the area for the 'kitchen" we headed for what we were hoping would be a day of fun and learning. This years theme was native American life,at least I think it was. There was circle dancing, rememberance dances, hoop dances. there was enough dances for many a life times.Plenty of arts and crafts, primative handycraft exhibits, and lots of scout stuff to buy.Even the Military had giveaways, the Air National Guard booth ran out of "swag" early.I guess the scouts know a good thing when they see one. No Coleman sales tent this year. The best show this year was the Navy Leap Frogs. The seal team knows how to jump out of planes. After all the fun we went back to camp for a good camp dinner. Spaghetti and meat balls. Nothing says camping like a plate of pasta. Later smores were devoured. This morning was clean-up and get out of Mississippi! Another Scout Base down, hopefully the next one will be as fun as this one. Remember if a scout trys to sell you popcorn,RUN, no help them out it is a great deal for you and the scouts...

Confused Joe 6 pack???
Just watched the debate. Was this a saturday night live skit? I am tired of this election. Who ever gets elected will have to do somehing about this mess we have here. Don't want to say raise taxes, but that seems to be the only way we can try and pay down this debt. Cutting programs will only add to the problem. Who wants to cut the Military or Head Start or any of the other programs. I am not a politco, glad for that , but which ever candidate that gets to stay at 1600 Penn. ave. in Jan. will have to help get us out of this mess. It will probably take a good 6 to 7 years, but I would like to see this country go back to the way it was when I was growing up. Is that to much to ask for? Just get out there and vote, you'll feel better !

another weird idea
Well, seems to be another Thursday nite, can't sleep and there is nothing on the 300 or so channels on the dish. Listening to some Zappa, and wondering what the mystro would be thinking about this year's picks for the election. He would probably hate the choices, not much from either side. I think I might do a write in, I don't feel like voting for the lesser of two evils. What a cop-out. I can't figure either of the candidates out, Which one is lying, are they both on the up and up? Who will help get our country out of this mess? Who got the USA in this quagmere? Was it big business? Greed? Do the big boys sit up there and see who can mess up the most? I can see it now they are sitting around drinking there whiskey sours and cheap draft beer making bets on which company they are going to kill today. Last year the airlines, this week banks. Who's next? Not much left here the states most of them out sourced to a far eastern country.Remember vote early, and vote often...
